Remedy to Sadness

Assalamu'alaikum.

They say life is like a wheel that's spinning
Sometimes you're at the top, always winning
But what's a person to do when feeling like a weakling?
When all you've got is gone and you're back to square one - the beginning?
Turning to others you look for a remedy
Having the same advice, they tell you patience is key
They say grief can't control you unless you allow it to
They say have sabr jamil- sweet patience- but they don't tell you how to
Because when life hits you hard and you're down on your knees
Patience isn't something that comes easy and free
Though indeed there is a way
For patience to come forward and in your heart it would stay
Gratitude
For when you're at your lowest point, there are people below you
While you have a small house, they sleep on the cold ground
While you have a small meal, it's been three days since food they have found
While you fight with your parents, the orphans in Palestine could never feel safe and sound
Indeed you are among those who are lucky
With gratitude, patience comes easy
Because sadness is when your heart feels empty
With gratitude, the empty space'll be filled with bounty
And you'll have the strength to
move
on.
